Her journey began with her powerful deliverance ministry, Prison to Praise, which has taken her across the globe to places like London, Uganda, and Dubai. With a deep desire to heal the brokenhearted and liberate the captive, Sonja's ministry blossomed from her 12-year battle with drug addiction. Her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ remained at the forefront despite her struggles.

The turning point came when Sonja, in the throes of addiction, realized that people no longer wanted her around because she would sing hymns and recite scriptures. Desperate for change, she had a transformative experience akin to the biblical Damascus Road encounter. She cried out to God, pleading to be sent to jail until she could turn her life around. Her prayer was answered when she received a seemingly short six-month sentence that turned into over three years behind bars. During her time in prison, God broke the chains of crack addiction, and Sonja fully surrendered her life to Christ.

Upon her release, Sonja's commitment to faith and personal growth deepened. She served as an Assistant Pastor at Greater First Street Baptist Church for a year and actively engaged in outreach efforts. A captivating motivational speaker, she embarked on journeys across the country, sharing her story of triumph and empowering others on their transformational paths.

Sonja is an accomplished author, with notable works including "From Prison to Praise," a gripping account of her life as an overcomer. She holds an Associate's degree in Theology from Emmanuel Baptist College and is a licensed, ordained minister. Currently, she serves as an Associate Minister at Cedar Grove Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, under the guidance of Elder Monte Lester.

In addition to her ministry and writing endeavors, Sonja is a certified tax preparer and the proud owner of AuthentiQ Tax, where she has garnered over 15 years of expertise. Beyond her professional pursuits, she is a devoted wife to Perry Carney, a loving mother to Divon and Sontoya Crutchfield, and a caring stepmother to Latia Sneed, Perry II, Peri, and Anthony Carney.
